The Seagull is a composition for the stage by Lev Dodin, based on Anton Chekhov’s play of the same name. The stage composition also incorporates Chekhov’s reflections on literature and art drawn from his letters and notes.
This is Dodin’s second staging of The Seagull, following his 2001 production. More than two decades later, he returns to Chekhov with a new perspective, shaped by time and experience.
The production’s stage world is created by set designer Alexander Borovsky and lighting designer Damir Ismagilov, with space and light forming an integral part of Dodin’s interpretation of The Seagull.
The production was created with the support of the Foundation for the Development and Support of Social and Cultural Projects “R.A. Foundation”.
Performed in Russian with English and Azerbaijani surtitles.
