INSIDE THE STUDIO

To bring this vision to life with complete artistic freedom, she founded her company, S-E-D, in 2013 alongside her collaborator and partner, Gai Behar. In 2022, the duo moved to Paris, establishing a new hub for their work and deepening their roots in the European cultural scene. Alongside her company’s repertoire, Eyal has created works for leading companies around the world, earning international recognition as a leading figure in contemporary dance.

Following the presentation of Delay the Sadness at BIAF, Sharon Eyal returns to the festival with Inside the Studio – an open rehearsal offering audiences a closer encounter with her creative process and the dancers at work.

The programme opens with a 20-minute documentary film, followed by a 30-minute live showing featuring Héloïse Jocqueviel, Darren Devaney, Johnny McMillan and Juan Gil in three excerpts: Christina; a duet inspired by Into the Hairy; and an excerpt from Delay the Sadness. The programme concludes with an open conversation with Sharon Eyal and the dancers – an invitation to look beyond the stage and hear directly from the artists about the creative process, exploration and the emergence of a new choreographic language.
